Default Awful Vibrations When HVAC system turned on...

I just bought my 318ti and started having a major problem driving it home from the dealership (about a 100+ miles). I was cruising down the highway with the a/c on low. As I picked up speed, the whole car starting shaking, or having really bad vibrations and noises. There was also a misty/smokey thing coming out of the vents.

I turned off the a/c and left just the vent on. The vibrations stopped, but the air was still coming out frigid. Then, with the fan set at zero, there was still cold air coming in. The only way to stop the cold air flow was to keep the fan set at zero and have the floor setting on rather than simply the vent.

Can anybody help me figure out what could be wrong and how I would go about fixing my car? The car runs fabulously, but it's too hot in Eastern NC to go a whole summer with only the windows down!
