For example, a recessed crack in the road that has a 3 or 4 inch drop that I must travel over about every day after work. Immediately after feeling the bump, I hear a noise that sounds like a small motor or a small blower for about 1 second. Before today, I dismissed it as some funky start up syndome thing, but today it happened towards the end of my commute during a lane change. There must have been some small pothole or something that I didnt see. Anyways, has anyone else experienced this? It really sounds like my car is getting angry or some sort of auto-adjusting suspension thing gets activated. Sound clips to come later today.. I just... Im really iffy about doing this kind of thing on purpose. -Conan | | | 03-13-2009, 06:16 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | I've noticed the same thing on mine except it rarely happens. Like when I go up a speed bump with 1 tire at a time while going a little fast. And it happens when I'm on a slight downhill, and I'm going with 1 tire at a time slightly fast. But it only happens like once every few months. I personally think it has something to do with traction control, because I didn't really have this problem before I switched my suspension. And it sounds like the traction control is triggered even though there is no slipping. But for some reason, the light doesn't turn on. Though I've learned to dismiss it, because I've noticed any sort of traction gain causes some sort of symptom for me. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I assumed that any activation of AST would also make the caution light flicker, and I didnt see that happen. Its like a transformers actuator or something -Conan | | | 03-13-2009, 07:36 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | sway bar end links. #5 below __________________ -Jeff | | | 05-10-2009, 09:59 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: North Bay, Northern California Posts: 251 | I get that too and my front struts are completely blown I assume it's that because the driver front strut makes noise when it gets compressed and I only hear the noise at the end of a bump or when I take the foot of the accelerator ...I'm ordering a set of DDM coilovers.... so what about the sway bar links? | | | 05-10-2009, 03:17 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | do your research on ddm coil overs, there has been at least 1 person who almost died after installing them just from daily driving. (not saying they were the cause...but it was his suspension that failed. Could have been the install, who knows) I wouldn't trust my life to budget parts. as for the endlinks, they need to be replaced obviously. __________________ -Jeff | | | 05-10-2009, 04:17 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | sigh...please don't spread misinformation. I read that thread several times on bimmerforums and the guy admitted to installing the coils himself knowing full well that they were defective. (His damping adjusters were not working properly on either of the front struts.) Instead of not installing them and calling DDM for replacements he installed them and then drove on them. He got caught up in a bunch of lies at the end and nothing he said made sense to anyone who has had suspension failure. Here's the thread, make sure to read the last page. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1156985 __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 05-10-2009, 06:51 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: North Bay, Northern California Posts: 251 | Further more everyone on that has installed these has loved them. They are definitely not track worthy from what I hear because the springs are too soft and I don't track my car anyways I just drive in the words of an ex girlfriend, "disgustingly fast" | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
