I figure most of us share a passion for german engineered vehicles, perhaps some of us extend this passion into our beverage choice? I ask you this, what is your favorite german beer? Personally, I am a huge fan of Spaten Optimater... I'm not gonna lie, I love the stuff. Rich, full-bodied, amazing flavor, high abv... what more can you ask for in a beer? I guess it's not for everyone, but I love it. Anyone else want to post their favorite german beer? __________________ --------------------------------------- '97 Hellrot 318ti - Active, 5 speed 17'' BMW Motorsport Wheels ACS-"Style" (E-Bay, haha) Racing Pedals M Frontspoiler (OEM) Alpine CDA 9827 MP3/CD Head Unit Alpine E12 Subwoofer (now stolen) Audiobahn A4002T Amp (also now stolen) Dented driver side fender (provided courtesy of blind 80 year old woman) Keyed passenger door (provided by someone who likes to key red cars) Soon to come (now that I've graduated and have a real job) S52 Engine Swap!!! Not a beer guy. I guess too young to be a connoiseur, plus I quit drinking. My two favorites were guinness and Yuengling, quite a difference between them. | | | 03-23-2005, 05:08 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | Spatten is really a malt liqour and not a beer. but it is made in Munchen. Guin is my favorite. Then Beck's Dark, and Warsteiner Because Life is too short to drink cheap beer. | | | 03-23-2005, 05:19 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Delafield, WI Posts: 471 | Not much of a beer guy, when I drink beer it has to be good. There is a local beer here I really like, brewed in Chippewa Falls, WI - Leinenkugel's. I like their BIG BUTT Doppelbock (label has two billy goats butting heads, bock in German means billy goat) and their creamy dark. I also like Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest and Becks (for a lighter beer). | | | 03-23-2005, 05:38 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: huntsville, Alabama Posts: 110 | German beers taste like ****! Either way, I still love it, and it's a small matter to me what variety it would be considered. I just don't like connotations that come with the words malt liquor around here. And yes I knew it was from Munich. I love guinness as well. Also, Spaten makes other beers besides optimater (none of which I've had), but if I'm correct they're not all dark and malty, just Optimater. I personally like it, but there's a story behind the beer that's really intriguing. I've heard it's brewed in the city, and the brewer's own McSorely's Pub, at which, only McSorely's is served... even more interestingly, I've heard that if you don't keep drinking, they kick you out of the bar. How crazy is that? I've always wanted to go there.
