Default Price too high?

I came across the following car, but the price seems kind of steep. Its a 1998 318ti with 56k miles for $11,500. It really has all the bells and whistles I was looking for, but I don't really know much about BMW values. Also, the ad doesn't state whether its a "Base", "Active", or "Sport" package. Is there any way to tell which it is? Lastly, do all the 318ti packages come with LSD and Traction Control, or only certain ones? Any info on this would be great.

Thanks,

A 98 would have traction control but not LSD unless someone installed it.
Do you have a picture of the car?

Default Here's the picture

Here is a picture of the car. I just don't know enough to be able to tell the difference.

Btw, did any of the 318ti's come stock with LSD? I thought I read that some did, but info is so scarce on these cars.

Thanks,

It's a Sport. 95 Club Sport came with a LSD. It may have been optional in 95 and part of 96 on other models. Once ASC became standard I believe they did away with the option. It's hard to say what these cars are worth. Some are very low and some are high.

Thanks,
I'd like to go ahead and second Steve's assessment of ti prices; it's very hard to gauge what they're worth. I think what's more important is what it's worth for you. Test drive it, make sure you love it. I would buy it for 11,500 if I fell in love with it. I picked mine up in August (feels like I've had it forever, and I love it to death) with 37,811 miles on it for 10,500 with a 1-year factory warranty left on it (I ended up extending it to a 3-year, so it bumped the price up a little). Mine's a 97 Active package. Hellrot color, just like the one you are looking at. I would have to say that if I found that one, I would probably have shelled out 11,500 for it.

I'd offer like 10,750 and bargain with him from there.

Limited slip was an option on the '95 Sport. I had to have a Sport, black on black, LSD, and sunroof. It was Feb. '96, I was looking for a leftover '95 model to get a better deal. The local dealership found one one at a dealership in a Chicago suburb, and was driven to Milwaukee. The sticker shows limited slip as a $580 option.

Good point that I guess I just took for granted; Assuming the price is negotiable, negotiate. Haha.

Default One more question

I have a question regarding the "M" package that people are discussing. Some have said that the 96 - up Sport packages are all equipped with the "M" group. Is this correct, or was the "M" a separate option package altogether? I saw pictures of a ti that had an "M" gearshift knob, as well as a badge on the rear of the car.
