There are many cheaters on ebay(especially at car related stuff) or on car selling platforms that contact users and try to tell them that they are an American soldier or something else. Because of this many sellers on ebay are very skeptical and careful when they are contacted in a foreign language. And it would not be surprising that you wouldn´t get any answer. Took me about two months and I was speaking Sicilian. I suggest getting as far away from the base as possible if you want to meet a good girl. I was an E5 when I first got to Sicily. The Navy set me up in a TLA apartment that was surrounded by mostly Americans. First thing I did was move AWAY from other Americans. I ended up getting a house about 30 minutes away from the base in a beach community known as Vaccarizzo. Learning to speak their language opened a lot of doors for me and made life very enjoyable. Thats the ugly truth about cheating private car part sellers here in Germany | Unfortunately that happens here as well. As long as you don't ship the item until after you've physically received payment, the liability falls on ebay and paypal. | | | 03-10-2011, 10:29 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: Bamberg, Germany Posts: 107 | Oh wow! Yeah I live off base in a nice area (for German and American standards) with 99% Germans. The only thing I could do better is learn the language. I am really enjoying my time over here. I think once I can speak German then I will get more respect. One thing I will say is that I am very impressed; it's not very common for American's to speak two languages but when I was in Berlin most could speak at least two!! My Dad is from the Philipines and Tagalog and English are the two official languages. | | | 03-10-2011, 11:07 PM | #15 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Cool man, seems like you're gonna have the time of your life. I served for 10 years, and spent all of my time overseas and travelling. I never wasted my leave to return home, always spent it visiting new places. It's those guys who spent their entire tour living in the barracks and going home on leave that will always say the military sucked. Steer clear of the girls who hang out around the base and only date Americans, they're not worth your time. Funny thing, one of my Navy buddies used to hang out and go places with me. I noticed people were always complimenting his Italian. One day I asked my gf why my buddy gets all the compliments when I spoke as good if not better Italian than him? She said it's because they thought I was Italian, lolz! | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
