Next time it does it, get out and wiggle the wire. You might also pull the sensor out and see if it's caked with grease. If it's what I think it is, it's just a magnetic pulse generator like the speed sensor and ABS sensors. It's just a magnet with two tiny wires attached to it, nothing really much to go wrong with them except maybe getting dirty or the wires becoming loose. I could be wrong though.
