Unhappy Unknown Malfunction. Help?

I've recently purchased and installed a K&N air intake kit and Supsersprint exhaust system, both from BMPdesign. After a day of the installation, my car just suddenly turns off and lose power! It has never done that before. I'm just wondering if the intake and the exhaust had something to do with the problem, since those are the only things I have changed/worked on before the problem occured. Help? Anybody?

did u connect the temp sensor to intake pipe?
did u mess wiht the o2 sensors on the cat converter?

my guess is that check ur connections of intake, manifold , same as ur car fluids and ****. go take a look at ur car.

i didnt mess with the sensors at all. all i did was took the stock airbox and stock exhaust out, and installed the new ones. really have no clue whats causing this problem.

im gonna check again later. do u think there's just something lose or what?

yea the exhaust is great. the weird thing is i had the almost same kit on my 1st TI but the filter was smaller. and that that car was an automatic. i dont really know if that makes a difference. im confused. im gonna try to put the smaller filter on, and also give BMP a call and see what their say is on this issue.

update on this problem: i went to a mechanic close to my house (Black Mountain European Auto Repair) and the guy in there said (w/out running diagnostics), that he is 99% sure that it is the control idle valve. and if i replace it, everything would be fine. he gave me an estimate for replacing the valve and two hoses that connects to it for $280.

but i went to l.a. for a couple of days, recently just got back and i found this shop on colorado st. in gledale, ca (off the 5 freeway). it looks like a its a reputable shop. its clean and they only work specifically on bmws. looks like they have a lot of repetitive clients. seems to me that the mechanics know the owners of the cars. just about when i was already gonna talk to somebody my girlfriend suddenly felt like buggin me to go eat lunch. so we left. i called that shop a few hours later, and i was suprised. the guy on the other line actually talked to me! he didnt just blow me off and told me to just bring the car in so they could look at it. i told him about the problem and he told me that there's no way that it could be the idle control valve. he said it might be the air flow meter or the computer box. he asked me if there are any indication light that comes on whenever the problem occurs.. but theres none. so he said, 10% = air flow meter and 90% computer box. his explanation was: if there's anything wrong, the computer would tell you, but if the computer itself is causing the problem.. then of course it wouldnt.

ive decided to just bring it in to a local bmw dealership. we'll see what they have to say on this one.

Question

fri3daz3

What's the name of the shop in Glendale that helped you?

Sounds like a good place to know about.

Thanks

ive been trying to freaking post something on here but somehow my computers messing up, so here's a shorter version.

ive decided to bring my car to the shop right by my house since glendale is too far and all the san diego dealerships told me that they're fully booked til march. they've changed my idle control valve, ive installed my aftermarket intake (from BMP Design) and everything works now. the car runs noticably smooth. no more problems. i guess ive just found me a good mechanic in my area.
