Mine appears to have fatigued and cracked at the base, now it just slides on and off which slows down the shift to 3rd! 1st to 2nd, keep eyes on road fumble for and replace knob - shift to 3rd, shift to 4th, replace knob.. etc. This one at BAVAUTO looks like a nice replacement... http://bavauto.com/assets/product_im...le/gscfch2.jpg Anyone have any better ideas? | | | 06-24-2005, 04:02 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | That seems to be pretty common. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 06-24-2005, 05:29 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Lake George, NY Posts: 338 | ahahah yeah that happened in my car when i was test driving it.. they replaced it with a plastic bmw one and it works fine now | | | 08-20-2005, 12:04 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Central Florida Posts: 10 | Mine busted, too. They have a great feel, almost like a small, cheap, SSK. The knob for the 330 zhp, is really nice. I suggest that one. | | | 08-20-2005, 06:00 AM | #9 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | Quote: Originally Posted by minihoover I agree cali-ti, the short and weighted knobs are much better.
