I don't know if you can even use one since it could get hot. Did you at least give it a wash. Since there could be oils on there which wil cause for easy peeling. This is just my opinion from past experinces. | Trust me, I used primer. 3 complete coats actually. And yes I washed it thoroughly with a dish soap degreaser. Then I sanded it.
