C. Posts: 18 | Changing Cam Position sensor, what else should I do? Car is a '96 ti with M44 engine. My CEL is on, and the code says that the cam position sensor is bad. Reading through the archives, it looks like I need to pull the top of the intake manifold to get at the connector. Besides the 2 gaskets & the sensor itself, what else do I need for this job? What else should I do while I have the manifold off? I figured replace all the vacuum lines under there, anything else? Are the vacuum line just hose or are they pre-made hose assembly-type things? Thanks! | | | 03-30-2014, 04:12 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | I not sure, but with the manifold off you may be able to replace the plastic water pipe on the side of the engine block. Do it if you can since the pipe fails somewhere on the other side of 100,000 miles. | | | 03-31-2014, 12:54 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by jca I not sure, but with the manifold off you may be able to replace the plastic water pipe on the side of the engine block. That plastic cooling system pipe has caused 100's of blown head gaskets, cracked heads etc. That pipe is most likely the number one cause of major over heated 318's leaving you stranded wherever it breaks, usually 50+ miles from home | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
