Exclamation WTB M52 COMPLETE Swap!!

I am interested in buying a COMPLETE M44 to M52 (2.8l) swap for my 97 318ti. I have a blown HG and the cost for me to replace that in comparison to a motor swap is very similar. Please let me know what you have!

Yeah those guys suck over the phone and online. I hear they're cool if you go there in person, but of course that's not gonna help in your case.

What is a fair price for a COMPLETE S52 swap? They told me that not many people are doing the M52 swaps in these cars cause it lowers the value of the car..lol.. To me, that does not make sense! The guy told me that the M52 has like 209hp and the S52 has around 260hp.? I just have a bad feeling from them and I didn't buy anything from them yet! Everytime I call there, they give me different prices!!

I guess this has the M52 motor??

Please don't buy from Bav Auto Recycling, there are tons of threads about the BS they pull, here's a couple.

Honestly, modifying a car rarely adds to its value, no sense in worrying about that.

Haha I was just on Baltimore CL pulling up that link for you. Someone posted it on here the other day. Yeah, those guys at Bavarian Auto Recycling don't know sh!t. They sent me the wrong headlight switch twice after I even gave them the part number! First they sent me a 318ti/z3 foglight switch, then they sent me a regular e36 switch that is completely different than the ti's switch, then they sent me a broken 318ti headlight switch. I finally gave up, fixed my old switch and I'll never do business with them ever again.

I wish I could've been on the phone when they told you an M52 would lower the value of your car, LMAO! You're telling me a 2.8L engine with 50 more hp than the stock 1.9L is going to lower the value on a 15 year old $3000 car with a blown engine and 150k+ miles on it??? Idiots. And no, the M52 makes 189hp while the S52 makes around 240. IDK where they get off telling people bs like that. I had the same issue with pricing when I purchased the headlight switch. It almost seems like they just make stuff up as they go

I am really in a bind here and I do not know what to do! My car arrives tomorrow and it needs a HG. The fix is around $1G to repair the motor that is in it. That car I linked to on CL is $1G and he will deliver it to me for that price but it has 200,000 miles on it then another $1G to get it installed. Or go through BAR for $2,500 w/ 2 yr. warranty and get the M52 swap and pay $1G for install. Soooo many options to go with when I need to get this car done so I can drive it!

I have been looking and without luck for the past few days. The car should arrive tommorrow around noon and I want to get it fixed ASAP. I'm kinda impatient. It may not even be the head gasket. Car runs fine but overheats and the oil is milky from what the owner says.

I am used to VW's and if there is coolant in the oil, the first thing to check is the oil cooler gasket since the antifreeze and oil pass through it. But if it was oil in the coolant bubble, that usually means head gasket. It may be diff for these cars as this is my first one so I am unsure. I will not know till tomorrow.
