Plain and simple, my brake lights doesn't work. Bulbs are good. Fuses WERE good. I just changed the brake light switch under the brake pedal to try to solve the problem, but SAME THING. Now brake lights still don't work, and everytime I press the brake, fuse number 46 pops immediately... When the 46 fuse pops, my fuel gauge starts acting crazy. To get my fuel gauge corrected, I have to replace the number 46 fuse, but everytime i brake the fuse pops. So...I disconnected the brake light switch harness, so I'm back to square one. Everything works fine except for the brake lights itself. Help... | | | 02-14-2008, 11:00 AM | #2 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | what about when you turn on the headlights, do the tailights light up? If not, I'd check your headlight switch, but it sounds like you might have shorted something out when you installed the brake light switch. I'd fix that first and see if you could get that fuse to stop blowing. Then check the headlight switch. Also, what happens when you press the hazards? __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 02-14-2008, 04:29 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: long beach Posts: 182 | when I turn on my headlights, the taillights come on, just the brake lights don't work. hazards work just fine. this fuse blowing ordeal happened before at the feb. meet before I installed the brake light switch. I thought replacing the switch would fix all of this...but it sure didn't. I need this fixed asap and I just started my new government job 8-5 monday through friday so time is of the essence. | | | 02-14-2008, 04:51 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Waco/Austin, TX Posts: 233 | What else is on the Number 46 fuse? I had a similar problem where my windshield wipers would blow the fuse if i tried to use them. Turned out to be a loose wire where my stereo should be was shorting out the system. Just a thought if you have no leads. __________________ 1997 318ti Schwarz II FB | | | 02-14-2008, 11:25 PM | #5 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Check this thread out and then check each one of your lights to make sure they're screwed in properly and are placed in the correct locations. http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19663 __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 02-15-2008, 09:20 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: long beach Posts: 182 | fixed. there was a short in the system that i found. thanks for the stereo lead Naustin!!!
