I just called 3 random places in around the Providence area and not one of them will install my suspension. They won't install parts that you bring to them. Well i hope all the other places aren't like that but from what the lady said to me sounds like this is might be difficult to find a company to do this. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 03-07-2006, 07:47 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Thousand Oaks, California Posts: 343 | Just keep looking... i know of atleast 3 or 4 shops in town that would install my suspension.. they just cost way too much.... __________________ 1993 325is Hellrot Tribute to: 97 318ti Montreal Blue R.I.P 96 318ti Schwartz II | | | 03-07-2006, 07:47 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Alot of shops are gay like that. Its their way of getting people to buy the parts from them. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 03-07-2006, 07:48 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | It's tough for companies guarantee when it's someone elses parts. They also loose on the parts markup. But I think it's more that it's a can of worms when installing non-stock parts. I'm assuming these aren't stock ti parts. My mechanic doesn't care because he knows I won't hold him responsible for the labor if there is a problem. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 03-07-2006, 07:53 PM | #5 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti It's tough for companies guarantee when it's someone elses parts. Plus i live on a gravel driveway and it's not comfortable even while doing oil changes. Jim said he would help out,i just got to drive to CT which isn't far from me. I just don't want to hassle him, kind of want to pay for it so i won't be hassled by it. I just started asking garages today so hopefully i can come up with something or i'll be in touch with Jim. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 03-07-2006, 08:20 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | i know what you mean, when i looked at my bentley i got all confused and was thinking i couldn't do it. i started by trying to remove the caliper because thats what mr. bentley said. after spending most of my day trying to remove the caliper, Andy told me it wasn't nessasary. the front is literally 3 bolts and 3 nuts on each side. it sucks your driveway is gravel, i would be scared of the car slipping. safey first! keep looking around for a garage, i'm sure you'll find one. but in the end the satisfaction of diy is priceless. hope you find a solution __________________ | | | 03-07-2006, 08:33 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Asheville NC Posts: 669 | I did my first suspension job on gravel, it's not too bad if you get lots of cardboard, you'll never feel the stones. Do only 1 side at a time so you don't risk the car falling. | | | 03-07-2006, 08:38 PM | #12 | doesn't care about you. So say another 100 for that and wow alot more than i thought it would be. Atleast i found one place so far which is up the street from me. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 03-07-2006, 09:33 PM | #14 | doesn't care about you. I would consider doing it yourself, you have all the help here you need. Or better yet, if J!m can help you, he has all the tools to do it. Once you've done it once, it's super easy. Think of it as a personal challenge. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 03-07-2006, 09:40 PM | #15 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT Seriously, it takes 1 hour to do the front, and probably a half hour to do the rear. I just have to buy mounts for the rear and not sure if i really need the fronts. What's your suggestion on the front plates/brackets? __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
