Question New Guy Looking For Advice...

Hello, my name is Danny and i'm looking into joining the BMW community possibly For a few months now I have been looking for a "old" new car, something I could get rather cheap and fix up so to speak. Well, after going by a local dealer I saw a little black BMW for 2,900 and some change. Didn't think much of it, just thought to myself that looks pretty cool and I'm already a sucker for small cars ^^. Well, I get home and do my daily craigslist search and of course the 4th vehicle down the list is the beemer I had seen earlier that day. It's a black '96 318ti coupe (not sure if that's the only way they came) and has everything I want in a vehicle... Not in this paticular order: Good MPG's, small, sunroof, RWD and hot damn, it's a stick to boot. Anyway, from looking at it here --- http://www.starautomotors.com/carsforsale.aspx (wont give me a direct link, u have to find it) can you guys tell me if it's worth a shot ? They have re-assured me that everything is in 100% working order and they have done all the maintence due up to it's current mileage. I appreciate any advice & thank you very much ^.^

looks pretty good save for the dent in the hood, pretty low miles compared to other ti's, I'd go for it

its not to expensive because its a low millage bmw and its fuel efficient.

its really lows miles, so it must have been barely used. the dented hood will cost alot to replace if that bothers you. i priced just the driver side door for a 98 and i was told by about 5 differnt people it would cost $800 with no locks or window at a junk yard.

if you dont mind doing alittle work, or you dont care about looks, you can normally get dented or smashed 1998 318ti for around $1000 - $2000

i have 2 1998 318ti's .. $1500 for the first one, and $1000 for the 2nd one. both run, but the 2nd one has extensive front and rear end damage, while the first one has a dented door and some interior damage (nothing serious)

together, they will make one nice BMW.. both are sport packages with leather seats, and 10 speaker systems. the first one came with a $1500 sound system, and the 2nd one with 4 tv installed in the seats and sun visors.

there are good deals for smashed ones on the east coast if you are willing to fix up a car for alittle. i have plenty of parts if you ever need anything btw, you arn't that far.

$200.00 for a ti door at a junk yard in PA. try searching on car-part.com. it's a great resource.
