Just brought mine and there is no owner's manual so I'm shooting in the dark on this. I have too issues. 1. when I use the key to close the windows and cali roof all works fine but the emergency flashers come on. Is this supposed to happen or do I have an electircal problem. 2. when I use the hatch window washer it shoots the cleaner and swipes a few times which is good, but then it continues to swipe intermitantly until I turn off the ignition. Is this an electrical probem also? Any help highly appreciated. I love this site! The my car doesn't flash its hazards if I use the auto close key feature, dunno about that one. With your rear wash wipe: push stalk once & hold for wash/wipe this also turns on intermitant wipe, push stalk once more to turn off intermitant wipe. for just a quick wipe, push stalk forward twice & it will wipe 2 or 3 strokes & switch off. | | | 01-06-2006, 01:49 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Watford, herts, England Posts: 805 | ahhhh! i thought that my rear wiper had a mind of its own! one less question i have to ask. cheers Halek __________________ '96 318ti in Montreal Blue :m-tec sideskirts,m-bootspoiler,clear corners & repeaters .m-tech side mouldings, Magnex Exhaust System, leather armrest, F-15 gear Knob, 18" Evo 2's. Posts: 3,156 | The only think I can think of it has something to do with an alarm system, either factory (optional) alarm or an aftermarket one. The horn for the alarm may be gone so just the lights flash now??? Not sure. I like Driveaway protection and HATE noisy alarms (that everyone ignores anyway). | | | 01-08-2006, 03:21 AM | #7 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 9 | Halek, I tried your solution and it worked. thanks again. J!m, Thanks for the tip. I started messing around with the fuses for the alarm system-changed a few-and it stopped. I don't know what I did but if it fixed it that's a good thing!! Thanks again. | | | 01-09-2006, 10:52 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 9 | Woops! It started again. Any more ideas? | | | 01-09-2006, 11:01 PM | #9 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | Since the alarm fuses stoped it for a short time, perhaps the fuses are corroded a bit? Was this car at the sea shore at some point? High humidity part of the world? I had a problem with my Land-Rover in that the fuse blades got a bit corroded and things got intermittent. I replaced all the fuses and applied silicone grease to the blades of the fuses and have not had any problems since. You wern't doing anything tonight anyway, were you? | | | 01-10-2006, 04:20 AM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2006 Posts: 9 | thanks J!m, I guess Honolulu qualifies as sea coast and hot and humid! I'll give it a try and let you know. What kind of silicone grease? Is the spray type OK to use? thanks! | | | 01-10-2006, 04:08 PM | #11 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | The spray is too watery. Try to find a tube of silicone grease, which, oddly enough, has the consistency of, well grease... It's clear, sometimes called dielectric grease, available at electrical supply places and I think HomeDepot too... | | | 01-24-2007, 06:29 PM | #12 | Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Bountiful, UTAH! Posts: 40 | Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I have this hazard prob too (currently searching BMW forums / the interwebnet for an answer). When I turn the key back to lock the door & close the windows, the hazards start to flash... unlocking the door doesn't shut them off. The hazards button by the shifter isn't flashing, but if I hit it twice (on & off) the hazards turn off. I assume this is part of the stock alarm, but no siren is sounding. I don't have a key w/ alarm / keyless entry buttons, so I don't have any other way to activate it. So the question: Does anyone know the reason for flashing hazards when the key is turned back to lock? (I have a 98 318ti) | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
