The E-46 has a different offset in the rear, so you ought to use four fronts The later E-36 M3 wheels are "staggered." I know that they weren't staggered in MY '95, but I don't know for sure when that changed (I think '96). I had my ti set up 3 ways (all fronts, all rears, and staggered) and liked the handling better with all fronts. The car pushed (under-steer) like a pig with the fat tires on the back and skinny ones in the front. The best way to get a set of fronts is to buy a set of five OEM wheels from an M3 owner (3 fronts, 2 rears - the odd front was the spare) and then trade the two rears to someone for two more fronts. OBTW, I've got a set of 5 M3 wheels for sale... | | | 12-04-2006, 08:03 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 283 | i have staggered 17's off of a 2003 330 sport and they fit nice with H&R springs. __________________ e46 325 brake upgrade, Dinan engine chip, UUC SS brake lines, UCC rotors, m68 17in wheels, Conti extreme contacts, Billstein sport shocks, H&R springs, M3 shock mounts, B&B triflow exhaust, K&N cone filter, Magnecor 8.5 wires, Meyle control arms with caster , Hawk ceramic pads, Understeer M3 SSK, UUC SS clutch line, 320 trans mounts. | | | 12-08-2006, 10:56 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | Quote: Originally Posted by J!m If you have ready access to them, why not mount them and find out first hand?? | one of my friends sayed if i put them on the tires will scrape the fenders i told him that some of you guys have them on and the tires don't scrape! thanks guys most likely will go w/ all fronts just to see. the rears of an E46 what size, width are they? __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 12-08-2006, 11:47 PM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: ipswich Posts: 656 | the e46 have differnt wheels only the e36 m3 ran the ones above __________________ 318TI FOR SALE MESSAGE ME FOR MORE INFORMATION | | | 12-09-2006, 10:58 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | As above mate the wheels u asked about at the start are E36 wheels..18" 225 will fit easily with no probs at all and on the standard suspension with no mods..(although i spose it may depend wot suspension urs came with as mines the m3 factory fit as its a "sport m package") I run E46 rims that are staggered and are wider than those, on the factory fit suspension no probs..(sometimes get a slight grind on full lock but its very very rare full lock is needed anyway) Hope that makes sense!! Either way just bite the bullet an stick em on...worry about the probs after!! As long as they sit the hubs properly ur sorted (make sure they do sit properly..i destroyed my last compact as the wheel came off on the motorway...not pretty!) | | | 12-09-2006, 11:41 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: ipswich Posts: 656 | arnt the e36 m3 wheels 17" __________________ 318TI FOR SALE MESSAGE ME FOR MORE INFORMATION | | | 12-11-2006, 01:56 AM | #13 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT!
