Default ///M Aluminum Instrument Plate BMW E36 318ti

I am on the fence about buying this. Does anyone have the Aluminum Instrument Plate on thier car and does it look good once installed?

I think that looks horrible, the carbon fiber ones look so much better imo. I just think this is an eye sore and would bother me looking at it all the time.

Ignoring whether I like the way it looks (I don't have to look at it so that's irrelevant) here are a few reasons I don't like this particular item:

1) It's a light color. I think that would make it more difficult for your eyes to see the gauges during the day because your eyes would adjust to the brighter object (the cover).

2) Note that it simply sticks onto the clear plastic cover. That will make it more difficult to see your gauges from anywhere other than the drivers seat. Granted, the vast majority of the time that you need to see the gauges, you ARE in the drivers seat, but that would bug me. If it went onto the actual instrument cluster face (like the CF one on my car) it might be OK.

3) My guess is that the visual prominance of the cover would make it a little more difficult for your eyes to focus on the gauges.

4) Since it's a stick-on piece, I'm willing to bet that if you ever take it off, or it just comes off on its own, it's going to leave adhesive residue or other marks on the clear plastic.
