Default Transmission Output Flange

Does anyone know the torque for the output flange nut on the 5 speed transmission?
I need to troque mine down and can't find the spec anywhere.
I also hear it's a 2 step proceedure on some cars, so if you know for sure, post here,
Thanks in advance

Transmission output flange to output shaft:

Stage 1 140 ft-lb
Stage 2 (After Loosening) 89 ft-lb

I assume the 140ft-lb drives the flange into shaft then you loosen and re-torque to the 89 ft-lb for your final torque.

Bentley Manual Tranmission page 230-5

Great! I have the Bently Manual and missed that spec completely. I see it now.
Thanks!

how do you properly keep the engine from spinning as you torque down the nut?

there's a locking pin you fit in under around under the starter near the left driver wheel (hard to find at first because it's mostly feeling around rather seeing, but you get used to it once you find it the first time) when at TDC..it's in the bently.. don't remember which page though but look around the timing chain section.

I did not use this method. I'm sure it can be done this way but I assure you it will take longer to get that pin in the flywheel lock than it will to tighten the nut down. Especially if you have never used the FW lock before.
Put your transmission in 4th gear then used a strap wrench on the output flange. I had to buy a 12 point deep drive socket to get at the nut. It was a bear to find, but Advanced had it in stock.
Good luck.

it's on the 70th page or 113-5 under the section about removing cylinder head...can I just "stick" anything in there or does have to be, "BMW special tool no. 11 2 300"
