I dropped my car off today with Marc (Mdpowered) at MoonLite MotorWerks In Gilbertsville Pa to start the S52 swap process. There will be pictures of the swap as soon as he starts. While I was there, my eyes could not stop wondering to look at all of the nice rides in the making there at his shop. I can hardly wait to see the outcome! I am also doing a M50 intake swap onto this motor once I get the feeling of the balls the surgery has given it. I am sure I will be happy with the enlarged testicular sack this car will have in the end! Is $5000 too much for a swap? | | | 02-12-2011, 02:18 PM | #8 | Member Join Date: Feb 2011 Location: PA Posts: 75 | Quote: Originally Posted by pi4ovete_84 hey how much are you going to pay for the swap? Then you have to figure in the cost of a rear to be fabricated. So around $5,000 sounds about right. | | | 02-12-2011, 02:26 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | Quote: Originally Posted by 318teeeye That price sounds just about right. The rear has to be taken from a M series 6cyl. or whatever else you want depending on the gear ratio, then the shafts have to be split so you can take the inner from the "upgraded" rear and outter from your ti. If you just leave the stock ti rear in it will not hold up to much abuse and fail sooner than later. | | | 02-12-2011, 03:39 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: nj Posts: 1,099 | that doesn't require any fabrication tho....maybe just swap diffs and axels.. i got a friend that has a fully built s50 pushing a lil less than 400hp..and has a complete mcoupe rear to hold.. __________________ 318ti MZK2 | | | 02-12-2011, 04:37 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Yeah, there is a lot of swap info on this site. The only fabrication I can think of is the exhaust and making little spacers for the rear abs sensors if you swap in a medium case diff and E30 axles. Jesse made some beautiful spacers but I think you could also just stick a washer in there. I also think the stock small case rear end is more stout than people give it credit for. Now, if you are going for big power, that's a different story. __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 02-12-2011, 05:19 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: Reading, PA Posts: 140 | the guys at moonlite did my swap too, they did a great job, you wont be disappointed | | | 02-12-2011, 05:24 PM | #14 | Member Join Date: Feb 2011 Location: PA Posts: 75 | Quote: Originally Posted by cloud9193 the guys at moonlite did my swap too, they did a great job, you wont be disappointed | What all did you get done? | | | 02-12-2011, 05:25 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: Reading, PA Posts: 140 | s52, auto to 5spd swap, 3.23 mid case diff, z3 halfshafts, AA gen 3 catback. im actually heading down there in around 45 mins | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
