Default M52 swap No Crank

Hey yall,
Just finish a m52b28 swap into my ti, but there is no crank.
Fuel pump will prime but starter wonít do anything.
Donor car was a 1998 328i sedan auto.
My ti is a 1996 318ti manual
Starter is also brand new so thatís not the problem.
I swapped all the ews stuff from the 328i into the ti. So the dme, ews2 module and the key transponder.
Iíve also tried jumping the green and yellow wires on the ews module and still nothin.
Iíve gone through and checked all the connections and grounds multiple times as well and everything is hooked up.
Need yíallís help or advice.

So today I tried jumping pins 1 and 3 againÖ and it started!!! The sound of the open headers was beautiful to hear. Now after reading I think the issue is the key is not aligned with the ews module. I swapped the key transponder from the 328i into my 318ti key. But I guess that didnít work. So how do I go about aligning the key to the ews module?

Maybe the alignment; what did you do to accommodate the neutral safety switch?

A dealer, or some aftermarket software will allow EWS alignment. At this point you may consider a hard-bypass on EWS too.

But the first question still stands- an automatic DME is looking for inputs from the transmission it will not get from a manual... the DMEs are different...

It is starting and running, which is great, but driveability may be poor...

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply. But since my ti is a manual it doesnít have a neutral safety switch. For the ews I think I am just going to leave it jumped cause it starts and runs like that. For the dmes I thought they were the same but once you plug an auto trans computer into it, it puts codes into the dme. It also runs fine at idle but when I went to drive it, it would stall out when you try and decelerate.

Hi, don't want to thread jack so I started a new thread for my M50 swap no start. In my case the car was an automatic and converted to manual but the car was starting, running and driving for a long time before my current no start issue...

Do I need to recheck anything related to the missing automatic trans again? And if so what am I looking for?

Btw, I bought the car from someone who used it after buying it from the swapper!
