I just blew another head gasket I think. It got to the red, as soon as it did, I coasted it to the side of the road, with the heater on. Its not wanting to start. This car is an absolute piece of crap, I am going to fix this piece of crap, one last time (assuming thats the problem), ebay it, and go back to E30. I F'ING HATE TI's. No wonder they didnt do good in the US. __________________ Joe, In San Luis Obispo E30-> '96 TI sport -> E30 -> '96 TI | | | 09-27-2006, 04:36 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by jflip2002 I just blew another head gasket I think. Maybe it was warped? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 09-27-2006, 04:56 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | If you say "Another" I am assuming you blew one before? If you did, was the head checked for trueness? | | | 09-27-2006, 04:57 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Well you dont hate Ti's if you took time to register and read up on this website. Do you hate the TI overall (frame, interior, exterior) or just the engine? Maybe you hate the engine and not the WHOLE car? Try a 2.8 engine | | | 09-27-2006, 05:28 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Bend, OR Posts: 413 | or just try not to redline it. that helps too | | | 09-27-2006, 06:57 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Pismo Beach, CA Posts: 500 | I dont redline it jack ass. Thanks though. I think I hate the M44. I like the stubby ass, I dislike the 1.9L. I happened to like my M10 though, so its not really the dislacement. I hate the fact that I'm screwed again with this POS. Hopefully something is clogged somewhere. Because I replaced the thermostat on the side of the road today, because we for some odd reason stock it at my work. IT actually started up pretty quickly. Then it got hot again (like the water pump or radiator is screwed), and now it wont start. I didnt even let it get to the red the 2nd time. All this was happening while CRUISING at 60 along the coast here. I guess I'll know tomorrow. Either way its going on ebay with no reserve as soon as I know, or as soon as its fixed. Im over it. __________________ Joe, In San Luis Obispo E30-> '96 TI sport -> E30 -> '96 TI | | | 09-27-2006, 07:18 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Minneapolis Posts: 1,587 | Out of curiosity, how many miles does it have? | | | 09-27-2006, 08:23 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2005 Location: Bend, OR Posts: 413 | Quote: Originally Posted by jflip2002 I just blew another head gasket I think. But as previously stated, when you blew the other headgasket, was the engine check for warping/trueness, and did you properly release the air trapped in the system per the owners manual? Also, have you checked to see if your waterpump is done for, as a maintenance check-up when the last gasket blew? Was the gasket and head properly re-assembled, torqued, and cured when you did the last job? __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 09-27-2006, 03:16 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Pismo Beach, CA Posts: 500 | I apologize, when I said "in the red", I did infact mean the temperature, not the RPMs. As far as the therm and water pump, they were replaced last year when this happened. The hole top end of my head was redone by a machine shop here in SLO, and the bottom end by my uncle, who is a fleet cheif. And as far as bleeding, I didnt have the manual on me yesterday, but I did open up that little bleeder type screw by the radiator cap, and let the steam come out. The water p umping out of my radiator, when I tried starting it with the cap off isnt a good sign though. We'll see today =( I may get it fixed, and get a new cooper s. Then sell the TI. __________________ Joe, In San Luis Obispo E30-> '96 TI sport -> E30 -> '96 TI | | | 09-27-2006, 03:19 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: SOUTH Jersey Posts: 1,085 | from what I understand, waterpumps generally start going around 100,000 miles on the M44, yes? How is your fluid level? If it is low, check your oil to make sure none of the coolant escaped into the engine. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
