Oil isnt milky and it gets up to 120°C before I pull over. And this is what happened http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZPJy...r1IdcA&index=1 if its a new head shop quoted me at 2k... I feel like I could get a salvaged e36 M3 with good motor/trans/rear end and do the swap myself for under that Last edited by Jcityracer; 01-03-2013 at 03:25 AM. | | | 01-03-2013, 03:27 AM | #2 | Member Join Date: Dec 2012 Location: new jersey Posts: 41 | link just takes me to youtube, no video. what is happening?? did you have a block check test done?? if you need to know what that is, then check here: http://youtu.be/CCPMW84_zAc df | | | 01-03-2013, 03:30 AM | #3 | Member Join Date: Oct 2012 Location: Missouri Posts: 52 | Just updated the link! Sorry about that! And thanks for that tip!! Ill take it into my auto tech class tomorrow and see if I can test it | | | 01-03-2013, 05:01 AM | #4 | Member Join Date: Dec 2012 Location: new jersey Posts: 41 | that looks like a leak to me, not so much a blown hg.... there is a plastic pipe that goes along the block under the intake, as well as a fitting @ the back of the motor. can't remember if it is on the head or the block....think the head. real oem would have a diagram of all of the related cooling pipes and hoses. there are quite a few areas that could be the culprit. a pressure test would show where the leak is. df | | | 01-03-2013, 05:06 AM | #5 | Member Join Date: Oct 2012 Location: Missouri Posts: 52 | Thanks for the tip! Ill see if I can test it in the next couple of days and give an update | | | 01-04-2013, 05:47 AM | #6 | Member Join Date: Oct 2012 Location: Missouri Posts: 52 | Gunky intake Okay, so back when I was having trouble houldung coolant i took apart the intake manifold to get to the line. (oil and coolant((runs to back of block)) and reused the gaskets... so i ordered new ones and as i was putting them on took a look and found this. would this have anything to do with my overheating issue? I know normally oil doesn't have much to do with it and my oil isn't milky but here are the pics | | | 01-04-2013, 06:54 AM | #7 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | You either have a busted "Y" fitting on the back of the cylinder head or a cracked flange going in or out of your heater core on the firewall. Either way, you WILL have a blown headgasket or cracked head very soon if you keep letting it overheat like that. Make sure you follow up with a PROPER bleed after you replace whatever is broken: http://www.318ti.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27983 | | | 01-05-2013, 08:21 AM | #9 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Yep, that's the one. | | | 01-05-2013, 02:18 PM | #10 | Member Join Date: Oct 2012 Location: Missouri Posts: 52 | Alright Thanks! Got the upper part of the intake msnifold off yesterday. So now it looks like I have to take off fuel rail/injectors then where the intake manifold mounts to the block to get down to that piece. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
