(at least enough for golf clubs, and hopefully somehow fitting snowboards... hehe) __________________ cars i had: 89 pulsar 90 celica 91 mr2 92 svx 98 clk 94 urs4 04 626 00 mr2 spyder 00 forester 97 s320 91 legend cars i have: 90 acura legend 96 318ti cali top | | | 03-10-2008, 09:43 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: San Diego Posts: 340 | Generally speaking, the dealer will do anything they can to present your car as overvalued, identify "upcoming maintenance needs" etc etc until the number he's got for "what it's worth" matches the value of the car you're looking at. But then again maybe you're working with an upstanding dealer... which seem to be few and far between. Your best bet is to sell the car privately, even if you have to take a hit off the street value... inevitably you'll make more than if you were to trade it in. | | | 03-10-2008, 09:45 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Denver, Colorado Posts: 3,212 | Yea you will get more for a car if you sell it than if you trade it in. | | | 03-10-2008, 09:49 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | trade is far from fair!! if you want you could post your car for a fair amount maybe a little low privately and it will sell quick and you will still get a lot more than any dealer will want to give __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 03-11-2008, 05:58 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | dude got $800.00 for my car...i could have sold it for $2,100.00 the next day. that should be your guide. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 03-16-2008, 06:21 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2006 Location: Wisconsin Posts: 1,895 | Try a craigslist ad for the MR2 and see what happens. The ad is free and craigslist is very effective. __________________ ... ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ | | | 03-16-2008, 06:28 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Milwaukee Posts: 189 | You will take a huge loss by trading in a vehicle. Chances are they are going to want to make a car for car trade in your situation. | | | 03-16-2008, 06:49 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: Waco/Austin, TX Posts: 233 | Yeah +1 on Craigslist.org Sell it yourself and then go buy the ti. I sold my '99 Passat on craigslist in Austin in less than 24 hours. Guy came with cash in hand too! __________________ 1997 318ti Schwarz II FB | | | 03-16-2008, 08:27 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Fort Collins, CO Posts: 1,305 | Quote: Originally Posted by elchicano318ti Yea you will get more for a car if you sell it than if you trade it in. | true, i would never trade a car in. i don't even like to buy from dealers | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
