Question One touch windows not working...

My girlfriend just bought a 95 ti 6 weeks ago. When we got it all the one touch windows worked except the sunroof closing, I figured it was some sort of weird safety thing. I did the Inspection II today and in the process disconnected the battery 2 or 3 times. Now none of the windows will one touch close, including the sunroof, but the one touch open still works for all. I know its not the switches, I got a new one because the drivers side was worn, and moved it around the all the different windows, no difference.

i have a 1995 318ti and the sunroof doesn't have one touch close, but also doesnt have finger jam safety... i found that out the hard way with my wrist... and it hurt... a lot. Sometimes when people play with the windows in my car, or fingerjam them too much, the one touch will stop working, but it starts working again about 10 minutes later, or when i restart the car. Then again, if it doesn't work at all, it could be the actuator.
Which window doesnt work right?

That's pretty strange. In a 1995ti i am 100% positive that my car didn't come stock with a one touch sunroof. If you bought the car used, maybe someone had been messing with the electrical work.

I have a '96 model and the windows have worked fine except recently the fuse went on the main windows and after that the one-touch up didn't work. When I restarted the car, they worked again. Haven't had it happen since, but obviously I am interested to know why it would randomly stop working!

Cheers,
Paul.

When you disconnect the battery for more than ten minutes, The one-touch up has to be reset. If I remember correctly, this is the sequence: Start the car; Open the driver's side door and one-touch open the window; One-touch up the window now; Close the door : Open the passenger's side door; One-touch down the window; One-touch up the window; Close the door. It should work now. If not it means I forgot the proper sequence. It is a question of time and eventually the memory will reset.

I apologize for my memory!
Hope this helps.

Cars built after the summer 1995 shutdown received sunroofs that one-touch open, and "comfort close" from the driver's key. A car might also have gained a one-touch sunroof if it had been replaced. Both sunroofs lack pinch protection and would be too dangerous to one-touch close. I know there is a company that sells a kit to do that. What they don't mention is that a roof similar to the ones on our cars mysteriously closed on its own last year, strangling and killing a little German boy who was playing inside, as a neighbor looked on helplessly.
