My car has had random stalling/cut out issues where the fix for the problem doesn't make sense, replacing with identical off the shelf turner tune. Or it is the other way where it won't start most of the time, but sometimes randomly would and then run fantastic. I had a custom tune that worked fine for 12 months, and then every couple of times the car was running it would stall with no codes. I could have an EWS module issue as well since the way my car behaves seems to be against the way it was designed to work. But, since I haven't had any problems with it other than when trying to troubleshoot the issue in the last year or two i don't see it as a problem.. Probably should just cut the whole system out and be done with it. And just to clarify, he should not be able to take the chip that is currently in the car, put it into another 282 DME and be able to start/run the car? I may be confused about the other bmw chips starting my car, but I definitely know I can swap to my spare DME with the original chip or a custom tune overlayed on that code and have zero issues. Twin, 2.5 year olds.. I haven't touched the tuning in my car in over a year, still have minor fuel issues when DISA opens up, and the torque curve kind of stinks once DISA opens up. The main reason I wanted to really work with the cam timing from that other thread. Haven't even driven the car farther than 40 feet since October. I would agree though, delete it in code and get a performance tune to boot, probably the easiest answer.. Wasn't trying to confuse the op or the original issue. If my info is bad because my car has some kind of strange info, just ignore me. | | | 03-01-2012, 04:53 PM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | You have a bad tune. It should be strong and no difference when DISA opens. What DME are you running and tune? I don't run a DISA and found it is excellent. BMW did the DISA to improve low RPM torque only. I would rather have all 4 of the intake open at all times, so important since with a clutch/manual we are always over the DISA opening at 3,500. Remove it and see how that motor wakes up. I can either go with a purple label ecu/dme OR get an EWS delete chip for my 282? So who makes an EWS delete chip and how much? __________________ Last edited by Platanos; 03-08-2012 at 01:32 AM. | | | 03-09-2012, 10:55 AM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | ^ __________________ | | | 03-09-2012, 04:13 PM | #22 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Ottawa Posts: 579 | I have a ews delete chip for the 282 and it's $100 | | | 03-18-2012, 03:05 PM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: PA Posts: 1,906 | Ok, before I spend $100 on the chip, can I try the 1 wire snip? Which wire do I snip? pin 66 on the dme? I also have a dinan chip D900-1933e which is for obd 1 m42, but I tried it out and it didn't work. I am assuming it doesn't delete ews... __________________ Last edited by Platanos; 03-18-2012 at 03:29 PM. | | | 03-18-2012, 04:48 PM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Silver label = cant snip wires period. you need a dme without ews or and ews delete chipped dme. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 03-18-2012, 04:52 PM | #25 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by Platanos Ok, before I spend $100 on the chip, can I try the 1 wire snip? His personal DME he coded was a 282 so he knows a lot about that model. I'm really into OBD-II (667 & 668 DME's) EWS-II systems which are much harder to defeat . Cuting wires will not work cheers | | | 03-18-2012, 04:56 PM | #27 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Ive already tested this out, tis got ews2, even the early clubsports. Cutting the wire wont work. Thats why i said to rever to the 92-94 318 dme, you can cut the wire and install __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 03-18-2012, 05:09 PM | #28 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | My bad I hate giving bad information. I'll go with the EWS chip that Barrie is offering. Hopefully I can get this sorted out on Kasandra's car and move on to other matters that need attention (cooling and suspension). Thanks again guys!! __________________ | | | 03-18-2012, 10:26 PM | #30 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2010 Location: Ottawa Posts: 579 | PM replyed Platanos BTW you are a site supporter witch get's you 20% off my chips | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
