Default Fog Lights randomly..Stop working?

So I'm driving home from dinner and its real foggy and I've got my fogs on and after a bit they just..shut off. I push the switch back in and try to turn them back on but no luck. Luckily, when I got into town again they came back on? So..no issues really for me except that I'm wondering what could cause that? Anyone know?
