Default New headliner

Finally got the pics back and scanned for my black Microsuede headliner. Along with it I managed to track down the proper black sunvisors, vanity lights, map lights, grab handles, and a surprise.

With the light gray headliner falling down around my ears, I had to first strip the only one out and get it down to the bare glassfibre. After that came the foam. JoAnn's sells "headliner" fabric that is seriously ugly (unless you like bright red or blue) but has the thinnest foam they carry attached to it. I bought a couple of yards and stripped the red fabric from it before attaching the foam to the headliner base.

Here it is in black.. all done and ready to go into the car.

The C pillars were easy. Large, simply shaped, and no tight corners..

The B pillars were a pain. With their tight corners and the opening for the seatbelt slider, I had to get them exact.

Above the sunvisors, I have the black M3 vanity lights. Pretty hard to track down without spending a fortune. I also tinted the lenses with a light layer of black to make them less conspicious.

In the back, where the third light would be, I replaced it with a double lensed unit from an E34. I think it looks a LOT better.

And looking forwards.. the black Sunvisors, map/dome light, and the Z4 electrochromatic mirror.

The only part I did not buy was the sunroof surround. This piece of fabric backed rubber that tucks the headliner up and helps seal off the sunroof was near impossible to get in black. I would up spraying mine with black vinyl/fabric paint. I am going to do the rear deck next

My experience with headliners says they SUCK. If you have the extra money, have the pros do it. Otherwise, you're just gonna have to bite the bullet.

Yeah. mine is done in black micro-suede and its really hard to get it to not bubble or fall down over time. And with regards to that sunroof panel that the sunroof switch sits in, damn near impossible to get out without breaking clips. I finally broke down and had to special order it from the dealer but you can get it in schwarz at least.
Good job on the fabric man, looks awesome. probably better than mine.

Editamn thats a z4 mirror haha. Nice

yup.. I actually had that installed in my late Hyundai Tiburon. When I bought my Ti, it did not have a rear view mirror.. so I stole it out of my tib before they towed it away to the junkyard and installed it.

So far, no falling down of the headliner. I do know that I used a LOT of glue and it was hard to remove even a little bit to fix a small bubble I got when putting it down.
