Exclamation The Engine overheated!!!

I have been having some promblems with the engine temp. in my car. So i got the thermostat replaced and took out the fan relay since my car could not warm up since the relay keeps the fan on the whole time the engine is on. So to slove this temporarely i took it out to cut the fan off since it was cold conditions outside. Long story short I was sitting in front of someone's house with the engine on to get some heat and i didnt notice but the temp. got up to the 3/4 mark and a little bit over it. I immediatley cut it off and let it cool down. It has been running any differant and I took it out of town and it did fine. Does anyone think that therre could be something wrong or ever had a car over heat and something result from it????
