Default What happens when you can't find a Clubsport...

I've been shopping for a decent Hellrot Clubsport for a while now and my eyeballs have been bleeding. The search is frustrating. So, I've dabbed into another German car, the VW. A craigslist ad popped up in my area for a Diesel Rabbit that had been sitting for a while and so I made arrangements to look the car over. I ended up buying it.

1979 4 door Rabbit diesel L
Last road use was in 87
Interior is going to get gutted

The purpose of this car is to have something I can take on a roadtrip and go the distance.

It was making friends with 50 other european cars under the same dust and dirt particles. Too bad there weren't any bimmer's though.

Any plans to convert it to used vegetable oil? Good to see the older car put to use.

Nah....no veggie here. I'll stick with diesel. I'll have enough trouble just making it road worthy within a few weeks.

Don't those things get around the same MPG as a Prius? Makes you wonder why the Prius is such a big deal 30 years later...

Nice car. Way better than a Prius

I'm hoping I can get 60 out of it. It'll take some work to achieve that but it's not impossible.

I've gutted the bloody thing..

I'm replacing a ton of stuff. I dove in deep without intending to. I guess that how things go.

Still waiting for that CS to fall in my lap.

We are loaded with diesel VW's, however, it's completely null with the BMW's.

Those diesels are noisy and like to leak oil, but are so economical and last a long, long time when properly cared of. Let just hope the diesel system isn't full of fungus.
