Posts: 6 | Any interest in a Euro model 1999 323ti Sport? I am about to purchase a 1999 323ti, which was imported direct from Italy. It HAS been "federalized" to US specs (this is a VERY costly process). Obviously the car is insanely rare here, but I wan't to judge the interest/price offers I could get on it if I plan to sell it in 6 months to a year. So leave a post with how much you would pay for or if you would be interested. It is FULLY loaded with all option plus BMW M Sport package, and is a 5 speed of course. Best part...ONLY 42,000 MILES!! I live in DC METRO area by the way. | | | 07-15-2005, 02:24 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | This would be the only one I have ever heard of and would truly be a collector's item in the US. I'm in the DC area and would love to see it. You would need to find someone who really wants such a rare car otherwise people will treat it like any other car. It's like when people do a conversion or lots of mods. They rarely get what they put into it. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-15-2005, 02:30 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: D.C. Posts: 6 | I apologize for the multiple threads. I wasn't sure which forum people checked the most. I am trying to seal the deal on it tonight, if I do, then I will most certainly bring it to the next "meet" the club has. Let me ask you though, will it be very difficult to maintain/repair since it is not sold here? I would love to own such a rare car, but of course don't want to pay sky high prices to maintain it | | | 07-15-2005, 02:31 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: D.C. Posts: 6 | One more question (please excuse my ignorance, as this opportunity only presented itself yesterday, and I am not schooled in TI knowledge at all) Would the 1999 model be considered E46 style? | | | 07-15-2005, 02:34 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | I don't think it will be difficult to get it serviced. Of course you will not have a warranty. I have a 2.8 in my ti. 328 brakes. Front suspension from an M3. Larger diff, different tranny and driveshaft. The list goes on. Basically it is a 318ti with a 2.5 liter. Most of the parts are 318ti, engine parts are available here. I've been able to align my car to 323ti specs. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-15-2005, 02:35 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by 323ti One more question (please excuse my ignorance, as this opportunity only presented itself yesterday, and I am not schooled in TI knowledge at all) Would the 1999 model be considered E46 style? | E36. 1999 was the last year for the ti. 2000 would be an E46. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 07-15-2005, 03:00 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Pomfret Ct Posts: 277 | I would get it, my brother has a 1980 323i that was imported from germany. It makes the car really unique yet it's a BMW and you can still get all the parts you need for it. | | | 07-15-2005, 03:09 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | my 1997 was federalized....wish i knew how much it cost for the owner. finding a 323ti is no problem for me, I can find 20+ right now at this min. already checked on freight from France to Miami. my dad offered to pay the freight for me if I found a good one, which I was looking, but then decided on a Club Sport instead. If I was going to bring anything over it would be a e36 Evo or e30 Evo...other than that not much else is worth the trouble. | | | 07-15-2005, 03:11 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | 323tis go from 3000 Euro to 10,000 for a really really Nice one in germany. | | | 07-15-2005, 04:04 PM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: D.C. Posts: 6 | how fast? how fast should I expect the 323ti to be? I looked up the E36 323is and that said 7.1s 0-60. The 323ti has the same engine but only weighs 2980 pounds, so I'm thinking it should be pretty quick? | | | 07-15-2005, 05:08 PM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Columbia, SC Posts: 528 | OT: What's the E36 Evo? I think the 323 would be quicker...obviously. Bigger engine on a small/nimble platform. I think it would be hella fun to drive. | | | 07-15-2005, 05:16 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | ^m3s | | | 07-15-2005, 05:38 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | Quote: Originally Posted by gooten1 OT: What's the E36 Evo?
| E36 M3 with a 3.2L 321 horsepower six. It has an engine configuration similar to the S54 with individual throttle bodies. It also was offered with the SMG. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
