Have to compliment your taste. Do you have any idea how many inches you dropped the car? | | | 03-28-2008, 04:26 PM | #18 | Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Twin Cities Posts: 46 | Hey, thanks for all the compliments. Very nice.. If I had to guess..I'd say it's lowered about 4" ? It's pretty low...actually...it's really low. That said, I had to measure everything and be pretty specific with tire offset, sizes (slightly stretched) to ensure nothing rubs while enjoying a nice, 'spirited' drive.. Ok, ok...more pics coming. | | | 03-28-2008, 04:37 PM | #19 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | what offset are your rims? i guess now that i think about it 205 does seem narrow for 8" rims. they tuck in there very nicely though! __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 03-28-2008, 05:05 PM | #20 | Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: manchester england Posts: 48 | sweet wheel's on yout ti __________________ Women inspire us to great things, and prevent us from achieving them... | | | 03-28-2008, 07:43 PM | #21 | Member Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: MA Posts: 76 | Quote: Originally Posted by TurboMeTroy If I had to guess..I'd say it's lowered about 4" ? | Wow! Did you have to cut a coil or two on the springs to achieve such a low ride height? On the internet I have only been able to find a ~2.5 inch drop, and that was with coilovers? | | | 03-28-2008, 08:02 PM | #22 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | I'm that low on OEM shocks&struts with H&R Race springs from a 1.9L Z3. Currently running 17x8's with 235/40/17's, slightly scraping over speed bumps and driveways, but the car corners like a cat on carpet. I'll be upgrading to Tokico's pretty soon, which will drop me another inch. Definitely in need of a camber correction kit. Hey Troy, when you get a chance could you do me a favor and measure the clearance between the ground and the front and rear corners of your sideskirts while the car is on level pavement. I'll do the same so we could compare numbers. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 03-29-2008, 02:22 AM | #23 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | makes me want to order my rear shocks. i love the look of your ti...SICK! i think there should be two standards...low and stock. you've pulled off the low look perfectly. right the fcuk on! __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 04-18-2008, 02:11 AM | #24 | Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Twin Cities Posts: 46 | Sorry such bad quality, it's dirty and dark...I just took the picture about 10 min. ago. Sorry I haven't had time to measure the clearance or check the offset of the rims, but I believe they were +34, 17x8 w/ the 205/40s. NO rubbing under any driving conditions. YOu can see the Jetta lip fits decent, with some persuasion.. All black, everything...grill looks a little funny (seeing right thru it) but its just the camera angle...it's supposed to be nice this weekend, I'll clean 'er up and snap some better ones... Thanks guys! T | | | 04-18-2008, 02:18 AM | #25 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | I just had an awesome-ness seizure!!!! Very cool man, good luck on the build. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 04-18-2008, 02:45 AM | #26 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | jess, i still can't understand how you can go so low with those wheels, and not have severe camber issues and insane tire wear... you must have something other than just springs im not aware of... there is no possible way i could go that low with my style5's or else my rear wheels would be 45 degrees pointing inward.. lol __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 04-18-2008, 03:21 AM | #27 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | RWD, I rolled my fenders with a block of wood and a sledge hammer, ran 215/40's and it still rubbed a little. I later found that they weren't rubbing on the fenders, but on the top corner of the rear bumper. I took the dremel tool to the plastic on the inside of the rear bumper and the rubbing went away. You're right about the camber issues though, my tires wore pretty badly. I don't recommend my fender rolling technique though. Some paint did chip off, but the wheel arches were rusted already and I'm going to have to repair them anyway. Troy, if you're worried about your radiator being visible through the grilles, you can take some flat black rustoleum and spray the front of it. Just don't spray it too thick, coat it with a light mist. I've painted stencils on intercoolers before and doesn't affect anything. I just installed a carbon hood on my ti as well, looks good, keep it up! __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 04-18-2008, 07:09 PM | #28 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Odenton, MD Posts: 419 | They make a radiator paint that would work just fine | | | 04-18-2008, 07:27 PM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: NJ Posts: 1,625 | wow.. love that stance - absolutely spot on! gotta see more hi-res pics of that thing... cheers. | | | 04-18-2008, 07:49 PM | #30 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | agreed on some high res pictures!!! __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
