Should i just leave the stock one and not use a new one on the m50? and i was thinking about replacing all the lines any advice there? or just leave the old ones because they seem to work fine? __________________ e46 325 brake upgrade, Dinan engine chip, UUC SS brake lines, UCC rotors, m68 17in wheels, Conti extreme contacts, Billstein sport shocks, H&R springs, M3 shock mounts, B&B triflow exhaust, K&N cone filter, Magnecor 8.5 wires, Meyle control arms with caster , Hawk ceramic pads, Understeer M3 SSK, UUC SS clutch line, 320 trans mounts. | | | 08-11-2008, 02:35 AM | #2 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Which model is the M50 coming from that the fuel filter is in the engine compartment? I'm doing an s52 swap and the fuel filter on my M3 is in the same place as on my Ti. I guess it doesn't matter where you put it, just make sure that the sending and return lines aren't crossed. The send line will be coming from the filter obviously. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 08-11-2008, 03:41 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Golden, CO Posts: 283 | Its a non vanos m50 out of a 93 325i. The filter is tucked up against the block under the intake manifold. I think it will be best if i keep the stock location and lines if possiable unless some else has a definitive answer that works. -thanks __________________ e46 325 brake upgrade, Dinan engine chip, UUC SS brake lines, UCC rotors, m68 17in wheels, Conti extreme contacts, Billstein sport shocks, H&R springs, M3 shock mounts, B&B triflow exhaust, K&N cone filter, Magnecor 8.5 wires, Meyle control arms with caster , Hawk ceramic pads, Understeer M3 SSK, UUC SS clutch line, 320 trans mounts. | | | 08-11-2008, 07:55 AM | #4 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Hmm, my s52 has something that resembles a fuel filter under the intake manifold as well. I'll have to take a better look at it tomorrow because I don't remember seeing any fuel lines going into it. It came out of my '98 M3 which has the fuel filter under the car covered by a metal panel attached to the bottom of the driver's side floorboard. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 08-11-2008, 02:52 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | It doesnt matter where you have the filter. Just run the lines from the tank to it, then to the rail, youll be fine. Either setup will work. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 08-14-2008, 09:52 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Newcastle UK !BMW TECH! Posts: 110 | U sure thats a fuel filter? The only thing under the manifold is the idle control valve (ICV) All E36 fuel filters (except diesels) are under the floor of the car. Under NS seat area. | | | 08-15-2008, 12:31 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: 43609 Posts: 3,425 | Early m50s came with the filter attached to the side of the block, not to the chassis itself, i have the same setup. I chose to put the fuel filter under the car for ease of replacement and such. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 09-06-2008, 12:51 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Scandia, MN Posts: 215 | The '92 M50 I swapped in had a block-mounted filter. Just take it off and use the stock ti unit. | | | 09-07-2008, 08:35 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2007 Location: Newcastle UK !BMW TECH! Posts: 110 | Oh, my bad, I stand corrected!
