Default Fuel lines for swapped

I am just about to start my M50 engine swap and was thinking about the fuel lines. the stock fuel filter is mid car and the new one will be in the engine compartment. Should i just leave the stock one and not use a new one on the m50? and i was thinking about replacing all the lines any advice there? or just leave the old ones because they seem to work fine?

Which model is the M50 coming from that the fuel filter is in the engine compartment? I'm doing an s52 swap and the fuel filter on my M3 is in the same place as on my Ti. I guess it doesn't matter where you put it, just make sure that the sending and return lines aren't crossed. The send line will be coming from the filter obviously.

Its a non vanos m50 out of a 93 325i. The filter is tucked up against the block under the intake manifold. I think it will be best if i keep the stock location and lines if possiable unless some else has a definitive answer that works.
-thanks

Hmm, my s52 has something that resembles a fuel filter under the intake manifold as well. I'll have to take a better look at it tomorrow because I don't remember seeing any fuel lines going into it. It came out of my '98 M3 which has the fuel filter under the car covered by a metal panel attached to the bottom of the driver's side floorboard.

It doesnt matter where you have the filter. Just run the lines from the tank to it, then to the rail, youll be fine. Either setup will work.

U sure thats a fuel filter? The only thing under the manifold is the idle control valve (ICV) All E36 fuel filters (except diesels) are under the floor of the car. Under NS seat area.

Early m50s came with the filter attached to the side of the block, not to the chassis itself, i have the same setup. I chose to put the fuel filter under the car for ease of replacement and such.

The '92 M50 I swapped in had a block-mounted filter. Just take it off and use the stock ti unit.
