If not, I don't need the transmission for now but I need the engine. My transmission is a little notchy but it still works. I will drive it the way it is for now. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 03-04-2015, 08:07 PM | #23 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2014 Location: Oregon Posts: 22 | I bought this engine and i would like to document my experience. I purchased this engine because my recently purchased ti had its engine with a blown HG. i got in contact with the seller and he assured me this engine had been "professionally" built with a thicker HG and that it even came with good spark plugs. He gave me a price and estimate to ship it to me. Shipping turned out to be 250. A little more than i wanted to pay but for a "Professionally" done 89k mile engine it was a good deal and i was on a time crunch so i went after it.. after some back and forth over a few days with the seller about the freight company wanting more to ship the engine. The engine finally made its way out a week later after i paid. No concerns or worries up to this point, good communication with the seller overall. This is the point i begin to really become disappointed in my purchase. PROBLEM 1: The Engine arrived about 5 days later...arrived with no accessories for example (e.g. pulleys, hoses, water pump etc.). To me it was a bare block.. i was upset. I got in contact with the seller and he told me the reason none of the accessories came with the engine because he assumed that because my engine had a blown HG i would just swap all my parts over. Well not all the parts on that engine were good or present. So i thought i was buying a complete engine. Especially for the price i paid. PROBLEM 2: Professionally built engine? Not so much. Engine had about 8 different types of screws and bolts throughout the engine. Most were on the valve cover. I notified the seller about this issue. He reverted to how he should have gotten WAY more for this engine and how it is professionally done. I even sent him pictures and he gets even more defensive mentioning that with a 70k mile motor it will last 100k more. Didn't the engine have 89k miles? All in all, the blame here for this ****ty situation is to be shared i should have specified exactly what i was gonna receive. Im gonna make the engine work but not without shelling out more money. Again, just wanted to document my experience with dealing with this seller. Thanks for reading. | | | 03-04-2015, 10:51 PM | #24 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Georgia Posts: 595 | Quote: Originally Posted by SmokedBMW23 All in all, the blame here for this ****ty situation is to be shared i should have specified exactly what i was gonna receive. Thanks for reading. | Wow, what a professionally built engine with mixed non-factory valve cover bolts. I wonder what the internals would look like? Mixed conn rods, rod bolts, bearings, etc. Hope not. __________________ 1996 Ti 280k miles and still going.... 1993 964 - holding on to this one 2001 Burban, 240k miles 2018 Suburban Z71 | | | 03-04-2015, 11:16 PM | #25 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2014 Location: Oregon Posts: 22 | Yeah...thats exactly what ran through my mind. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
