Ok, so my car won't start. It is a 1995 318ti with 68k miles. Great condition, and from everything that I can tell, all it is is the battery. So, my question is, can I run out to my local Napa or Wal-Mart and buy a battery, or do I need something specific for this car? A gentleman that I know said I had to get a specific German battery or it won't last. So anyway, this is my first BMW, and I just want to do things right. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all! | | | 01-30-2007, 07:59 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: maritimes Posts: 1,433 | I would only assume a battery is a battery.. just look in your battery box now.. and get one the same size with the terminals on the same side (top or side, i dunno what we have in the car) and you shouldn't have any problems. __________________ 11/97 Base 328Ti | | | 01-30-2007, 08:23 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | get one with same ampage rating as well..... chances are wherever you get the battery they should have a reference guide for evey car and a warranty with it too... thats how it is here anyway.... | | | 01-30-2007, 09:08 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Just go to autozone or kragen or watever, they usually have a book next to the batteries that list all makes and models and what battery size is applicable for each car. If you have a Costco, they sell kirkland brand batteries in most every size for cheap. If I remember correctly, the Ti uses a size 48 battery, and Costco sells this size for about 50ish. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 01-30-2007, 09:17 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Omaha, Nebraska Posts: 11 | Thanks very much!! I hopped on the Sears website, and my local Sears Auto Center carried DieHard Internationals, with the terminals in the correct orientation and a 700 CCA rating. It was around $110. __________________ -Kenny | | | 01-30-2007, 10:09 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: state college, pa Posts: 3,431 | Quote: Originally Posted by Variance with the terminals in the correct orientation and a 700 CCA rating. I have the same battery, and it's lasted since '00 sometime. __________________ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ZOMBIES. | | | 01-30-2007, 11:32 PM | #8 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | I recently got one from autozone,my old one crapped the bed and thought it was under warranty but it was not. So the guy gave us %10 off which isn't much but it's something. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
