Must be a standard transmission. jeff02740@hotmail.com | | | 10-31-2012, 09:20 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | The good news is that all 1999s are sports. The bad news is that there weren't many made. Only difference between 1998 sport and 1999 is the steering wheel AFAIK. Good luck. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-31-2012, 09:34 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: MASS Posts: 7 | 1999 WTB Yes all 1999 were MTECs, they did have a different steering wheel, the front brakes were also upgraded to 325 brakes. | | | 10-31-2012, 09:48 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2010 Location: Wichita Falls, Texas Posts: 1,364 | 99's also have side air bags. | | | 10-31-2012, 09:59 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | Everything stated is correct, 99's (all 656 of them) were sports, came with the 3 spoke M3 steering wheel, vented front brakes from the 325, and side airbags __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 11-01-2012, 12:40 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Vented front brakes began 4/98. I believe side airbags also started sometime in 1998. Swapping solid for vented is an issue DIY job. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 11-01-2012, 01:37 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Los Angeles, CA Posts: 1,464 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti I believe side airbags also started sometime in 1998. | Correct. Side airbags were optional on 1998 ti's and became standard equipment in the 1999 model year. | | | 11-01-2012, 03:29 AM | #8 | Z3 Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Usa Posts: 660 | 656? That even less than my 1999 z3 coupe 2.8... just under 700. Good luck finding one. A rare car indeed. __________________ Frederic 1997 318Ti M-Tech & 1999 Z3 2.8 | | | 11-01-2012, 05:04 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | Quote: Originally Posted by Bozola 656? A rare car indeed. | I think its the "rarest" 3er in terms of year and model ever produced, I don't think there were any less than 656 19xx 3xx-xx ever sold in the U.S. but I could be mistaken. Its a point I like to make to my neighbor, another BMW aficionado, who likes the exclusivity of his 1M Coupe (800 sold) and who I was more than happy to inform that my car was more "exclusive" than his. Albeit I'd swap cars with him in a heartbeat, that thing is sick. __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
