Since my car is down. I want to match the brake calipers to my paint. And i hear the only way to do that is powder coating. Can anyone tell me how to do it or how its done? I have to go to bmw parts and get the same color touch paint of my car right to begin with? | | | 05-18-2006, 12:55 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Remember, i want the same color. Painting is a really hard thing to do, I tried to paint a part of a quarter panel on a honda accord and it didnt turn out very well, but it was better then most other do-it-yourself repairs on other accords. I think it costs about $40 to powder coat a valve cover so it shouldnt be too much for calipers. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 05-18-2006, 01:07 AM | #4 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | You might as well powder coat your intake manifold and valve cover since your car is down. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 05-18-2006, 01:08 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Quote: Originally Posted by Tyler You might as well powder coat your intake manifold and valve cover gasket since your car is down. | valve cover gasket? __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 05-18-2006, 01:12 AM | #6 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | Quote: Originally Posted by 1996 328ti valve cover gasket? | That wouldn't be good. The blue isn't really noticeable meaning it doesn't stand out much. I'll post a pic of the car hopefully you can see it. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 05-18-2006, 01:28 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Yeah thats what I thought. You guys think the calipers would look in either white or silver? Cuz if they were to look good in either those colors, i can save myself the trouble and just by the spray can. | | | 05-18-2006, 01:27 PM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: England, UK Posts: 1,288 | just get them powdered silver or black. __________________ 1995 BMW 316i Cosmos Black Mods: • Magnex Cat-Back Exhaust • Smoked Corner Lights + Repeators • M3 17" Wheels • De-Baffled Air Box • AC HandBrake Handle and Gear Knob • DEPO Euro Epsiloids + Predator Chronium Rings • Chrome Interior bits •IE Poly-Urethane RSFMs • Kenwood Power Series Audio • Powder Coated e36 325 Front Callipers • Sports Seats | | | 05-18-2006, 01:31 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: No Where Posts: 297 | Since you are trying to match the color of your ti, would the powdered paint have the same paint code? I would think it would be a bit different as far as the color due to the difference in the paint. But what do I know... | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
