I want to buy a short shifter. Can anyone recommend me a good one and a good brand. Something of coarse that will fit my car, 96' ti.

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

b&m race shifter from turner motorsport is $150... my girlfriend just got it for me for my birthday and it is so awesome. it makes stock shifters make me want to puke because they are so sloppy. but check out turner motorsport because they have a lot of good stuff for our cars for decent prices, they are i think devoted to bimmers

Does it go straight into gear? Does the shifter accidently go into 2nd from 3rd instead of 3rd into 4th. Sometimes when i redline gears and im in 3rd tryng to go into 4th like it wont go in smoothly. Last time i went straight down and some how i went into 2nd, and i almost blew the engine cuz i was at redline 3rd and i pushed the clutch back in clickly before blowing it.

Shift lever not going directly into gear can be other problems.
A shift lever is not going to fix that.
Broken bushing.
In my case, I have a weak or broken dent spring.

You are not going to gain anything. I like a SSK because it's more comfortable. You would probably gain more by rev matching and not using the clutch at all.

You could drop an M Roadster shifter in there. But I'd go with UUC.
