Exclamation Exhaust swap question

So i looked under my 318 and while the car itself is rust free even in the most "prone" spots i've seen, the exhaust on the other hand is terribly rusted, the rear muffler is horribly rust damaged.

So i was wondering since i need a new exhaust anyways is it possible to get a e36 6 cylinders exhaust from a scrapyard or something and put it on? And could it even make my exhaust sound better? My main question is that is exhausts from the same generation e36 able to go on my 4cylinders exhaust even from a different engine? I'm really only concerned about the rear muffler nothing really past that towards the engine that's all good, just the rear, thanks for any input! And try not to make fun of me if it sounds stupid!

In theory an exhaust shop could get just about any muffler to fit but if you're asking whether the 6cy muffler will be an exact fit for the ti then the answer is no.
