Default M3 clutch and flywheel on a 318

Has anyone tried installing an e36 M3 clutch with a stock m3 flywheel on their ti?, We did it with a light weight flywheel form Active and it worked really well, I was just curios if anyones tried it with a stock m3 flywheel.

The UUC/m5 combo is the pretty much the standard for high performance clutch/flywheel setups. Available from www.understeer.com.

I don't know if the regular one will fit or not, I also have a lightweight flywheel M3 Setup - I love it. There are problems locating the pressure plate that will work with the UUC setup. When I was researching mine, I found that you can get the flywheel and disc all day long, but the pressure plate has been redesigned by BMW and hits the bell housing, so you have to be careful and get the right one. The question I have - In all reality what is the difference - I just haven't looked it up - How much power will each hold?

The E36 M3 uses the factory "Dual-Junk" Flywheel and the whole package weighs more then the factory 318ti setup so don't waste your time. The UUC Stage 2 with the 91-93 M5 clutch is the best street/track combo I have found. I have had mine in for about 100 miles and here's what I have found out.

Yes, there is some gear noise at idle, but it should go away over time. It's really not that bad. The engine does respond better as it is now spinning with 10lbs removed over stock. Plus, I now have a clutch that can handle a Superchargers power all days for years!
matching downshifts is outstanding now. The other nice perk is that if I leave the line with too little RPM it does not buck and try to stall... it just goes. So much better then the "Dual-Junk". My 318ti starts quicker (it needs a tune up, but I'm too lazy... I mean busy).

Overall I LOVE this setup and have no regrets at this point. It all cost about the same as a factory replacement.

Please search for other postings as I have more on this already.

Good luck mate.

Based on the information that I got when i bought my lightweight flywheel, I belive it should work. My lightweight flywheel is for an M3, the thing I am not sure about is the pressure plate. I called Bimmerworld.com and they had the information that I needed. I would reccomend giving them a call, they know the clearences and what not
