Yeah the ti runs an e30 "style" rear, not the same exact springs though. But that's why we're here, to help.

The E30 and the TI/Z3 run WAY different spring rates.
About 150 lbs per inch if I recall.
The E30 is a softer rate spring.
They had different tire and shock technology in the 80's than the 90's...

Unless your running dirt track you never mix springs left to right.
Not even stock units of different ages. When I do springs I check the rate on a
spring machine before install. No more than 50 lbs difference side to side for a
sedan setup, 5 lbs if I'm doing a formula car thats light.
I tune car suspension for road racing, so i have a 20 year background in
chasing suspension problems...

Cheers.
Dave

I apologize, didn't mean to insult your bf. However you did say he's owned and worked on several BMW's and if that's the type of work he does, I'd think twice about letting him work on your car. I mean, you said he's on other BMW forums and I'm sure you've told him about this forum. He has probably bought parts for his own cars on the forums, so what was stopping him from coming on here and finding a used set of springs from one of the many part-out threads.

^^^true. When people do suspension upgrades, they're almost willing to give them away. People here are generous. I just picked up an entire engine from someone on this forum for a friend of mine free of charge.
