Hey everyone, my engine went a few weeks after buying my ti and now i have to get a new one swapped in. I live in ottawa, Ontario and I have had prices from 500-1200 for an engine swap. My question is, how much should it really cost, and should i avoid cheap work? I dont want my new (used) engine to blow from a cheap job done on my car, but unfortunately I am VERY strapped for cash. any advice with this situation would be very appreciated thanks. | | | 10-31-2008, 03:55 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | Are you getting a 4 cyl or 6 cyl put in? __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 10-31-2008, 03:57 PM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Posts: 12 | I am getting the same m44 1.9 4 cyl engine put in. i found one with 120 000 km on it with 100 day warranty for $800. If theyre not willing for you to see the engine, dont bother with it. Id go to a shop that will let me see it, hear it run, and have compression and leakdown results with it. Granted, a warranty is great, but paying someone for their labor and having it fail within or after the warranty is not cool on your wallet. Get results or move on. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
