Arrow e30 diff question

3.73 lsd just showed up and I'm about to start the swap. I was looking through the DIY sticky (very informative, btw) and the whole hybrid axle/ cv swap thing caught my attention. How many of you had to do this? At one point, he says "I won't b.s. you, if you can get the e30 axles to bolt in, do it." I'm confused. Wouldn't you either have to do it, or not? Those with knowledge/experience please chime in

TIA,
Dan

The e30 axles fit. The only modification needed is to the ABS sensor. You need to remove it and install a washer or two between the sensor and the hub to allow enough clearance for the larger half shaft.

Oh, you have to unbolt the bottom of the shocks to get the e30 half shafts installed. There is enough clearance to remove the TI shafts, but the shock needs to be unbolted to seat the e30 version. Once its seated and tightened up, the shock can be bolted back on. During operation, there are no clearance issues with the exception of that ABS sensor.

Dan
I Did the 4:10 swap in my 97 ti. I bought the E30 axels, save your money. I didn't need them. Here is what it takes for the swap, pull the diff and remove the flanges and the side plates the flanges slide into. Do the same on the 3:73 diff. now take the side plates from your old diff and bolt them to the new 3:73 and slide in your old flanges. Reinstall the new 3:73 diff.
Takes a about 2-4 hours.
Take care.

If your halfshafts are good, then just swap the diff. No need to mess with E30 halfshafts. Swap the rear cover if you like, not necessary.
