If you got 1995 325i with EWS then just but red label 413 DME on ebay for $30 and install. No need to buy midnight tuning solution scam rip off stock chip. There goes his integrity as an honest tuner. Well you got some bad chip then, usually they are Dinan clones so those are good. Fact is, I am not selling anything on this forum. I don't sell OBD1 bmw stuff, I even provided free tuning program on tunepro webpage. You should not be paying these rip off prices for OBD1 chips, | Hey, the circus is back in town Anyway I'm happy that your trying to support the DIY BMW scene and I'm all for it but there is no need to trash talk other people because they have built a solid reputation that holds value. In fact my rep is so good that you can talk **** all day long and nobody will believe you. It involves the key chip matching the EWS unit to enable starter, then the EWS asks the DME for its ISN (individual serial number) if that is correct or what we call "aligned". This process takes maybe 1/10 of a second and if the the EWS is not aligned you get no spark and the fuel pump relay will not engage so no fuel. What happens with BMW's system is good and bad Good: 1997 and up cars are super hard to steal, you really need to flat bed the car to a location where it can be worked on to align new key chips. Bad: You can only run the DME that is aligned with the EWS so you can't go to the track and swap multiple tunes on extra DME's. You have to flash the 1997 and up DME with the new code for testing. So you can't borrow you friends DME that is coded and test it unless the EWS is deleted out of the code. Barrie can remove EWS check on his tunes so you can let a friend try the tune by just swapping the DME. I do not know the HP/TQ gains with a Midnight tune on your 668 DME. I can tell you it is very aggressive and puts out more then a BMW Dinan tune. Quote: Originally Posted by diegokiill What is EWS? And how much torque and HPs I get with stage 2? I got the 91 Octane tune because I live in California. What has my buttdyno noticed? Improved throttle response, It's a big difference, because before there would be a huge disconnect between my foot and engine response. The dead spot between 3-4k is indeed gone, when shifting I shift right back into the power band again, it's taking some time getting used to that. While it's not a necksnapping amount of additional torque, it is useable torque and that's what you really want. The acceleration is linear and the car revs smooth and pulls all the way to redline. For what I paid, I'm really happy with the tune and would recommend it to anyone. Dollar for dollar this is probably the best mod you can do for your car, Why spend $500+ on an exhaust and only gain 5hp when for half that you can have an overall improvement in how your car feels. Barrie is also prompt in replying to emails and courteous, which counts for a lot in my book. I have an m42 that is running a turner chip. I would like to swap to an m44 bottom end and could use a good tune. __________________ Using Tapatalk | | | 02-04-2015, 10:45 AM | #102 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SW Florida Posts: 4,275 | How in Gods creation did this dudes profile pic wind up being massive? I'm not knocking the user...yet, a bit creepy seeing a dude wink at me in super size first thing in the morning. Sorry for getting off topic. Berry knows I love his 91 octane tune. EWS delete for my next project is coming soon sir. __________________ Sean 1995 Active | | | 02-04-2015, 02:15 PM | #103 | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2014 Location: Clemson, SC Posts: 25 | Yeah I have no idea. I joined through Tapatalk and the picture is probably from my google plus account. I guess everything isn't figured out as far as that is concerned yet. I'll try to remove it. __________________ Using Tapatalk | | | 03-13-2015, 04:57 AM | #105 | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2011 Location: Massachusetts Posts: 23 | M44 testimonial Running the 93 octane tune in my track only 1997 Ti- I finished second in my class. It would have been a championship season had my DME not got wet (for the second time in 9 months). The difference between the stock tune and Barrie's tune is the best bang for the buck- by a long shot. My local dyno- which I feel is a bit optimistic- had my car at 152 RWHP with everything stock except a K&N panel air filter, cat. deleted, single high flow muffler and Barrie's tune. Like I said, I feel this dyno is fairly consistent- but likes to send their customers out the door with a smile. After my first tuned DME got wet last off-season, Barrie graciously re-tuned my replacement DME for the cost of shipping only. All I can say is-WOW. These are not the results and practices of a person that HAKKENT (or whatever his name is) is portraying. Buy with confidence. -Scott Rosnick | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 4 (0 members and 4 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
