I guess that's a fair price if it is in good shape. What do you guys think? | | | 10-30-2007, 02:31 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | It's actually $6,000. I got it mixed up with the other one in NC that is going for $6500. | | | 10-30-2007, 04:37 AM | #3 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Thats a great price if the cars in good condition. I'm probably going to sell mine for more and I have higher mileage. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 10-30-2007, 04:40 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Yeah, totally depends on up keep and what kind of maintenance has been done. My Ti needed a lot of work once it got between 100k to 120k miles. Bushings, clutch, radiator, water pump, plugs, etc... | | | 10-30-2007, 07:26 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | Thanks guys. The guy did seem to hesitate for a second when I asked him what things needed to be fixed eventually. He just said the front break pads and rotors. I'll be very thorough with this inspection. | | | 10-30-2007, 08:34 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | I would definitely suggest getting both a compression and leakdown test on the engine. You should also have the radiator pressure tested. It should hold 15psi for 15 minutes. That should tell you if the plastic parts on the radiator have any cracks developing. That is a fairly common problem. I also think stock BMW suspensions are shot by the time 100k miles comes along... I agree that a good condition car with that many miles can be worth that price, but not if you need to spend 1.5-2k in the first year of ownership to get the little stuff fixed. The labor on doing a complete suspension overhaul will be somewhere around $1,400. Just the rear bushings(trailing arm, diff, subframe) cost me 600$ or so in labor. I did the front myself. | | | 10-30-2007, 10:35 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | Hmmm....I have to drive about 2 hours to see the car. I don't know any shops up there. This not looking good. I guess a test drive will have to do. Shoot, I'm feeling like this drive won't be worth it. | | | 10-30-2007, 10:58 PM | #8 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | It's worth it G, if nothing else you'll get away for a little while and If you find any small issues, perhaps you could talk him down a little. __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 10-30-2007, 11:29 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | Yeah I guess the drive up there would be interesting. He says the body is in mint condition so that's a good start. | | | 10-31-2007, 03:42 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Saint Paul, MN Posts: 3,244 | Not sure where you are heading too but you can look for a qualified indy shop here: http://www.bimrs.org/ __________________ My Former Rides 1999 318ti Alpine White, Cali Roof, Dinan goodies 1996 318ti Hellrot California Edition | | | 10-31-2007, 03:59 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | Thanks for that link, I'll look for some shops in that area. | | | 11-06-2007, 05:06 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Orange County, NY Posts: 1,067 | Well, the trip was actually pretty fun and I bought the car. The check just cleared today and I'll be picking up the title this weekend. I should pick the car up the following weekend once the registration and plates get applied for. Thanks everyone for your help on this. | | | 11-06-2007, 05:17 PM | #13 | aka Stabby Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Mead, CO Posts: 5,336 | congrats and welcome! __________________ 1996 318ti, California package, 267k miles current mods: bilstein sports, bavauto springs, e30 m3 LCABs, solid metal ball joints, bavauto RSMs w/reinforcements, e30 3.73 LSD & halfshafts, supersprint cat-back exhaust, turner rear sway bar reinforcements, IE poly subframe & RTABs + camber/toe kits, powdercoated e36 32x front calipers, sport mirrors, H&R 28mmF/19mmR sway bars, x-brace, auto solutions SSK w/poly bushing upgrade, BMW CD43 head unit, DICE HD Radio w/iPod integration and "stealth" HD antenna, staggered style 68s, orange electronic TPMS, leather arm rest, JT Designs metal undertray acquired and awaiting install: heated seat kit, cali top switch relo, lumbar support kit, park distance control kit, heated washer nozzle kit, m-coupe rear subframe, trailing arms, differential, and halfshafts, m-coupe front/rear brakes with master cylinder, under hood light kit, mud flaps, rear sun blind, auto-dimming rear view mirror, tilt steering wheel retrofit, apexcone 5000K HIDs with 55W ballasts 2002 X5 4.4 Sport Package, 53.5k miles Current Mods: e46 m3 steering wheel | | | 11-06-2007, 05:26 PM | #14 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | WooHoo!
