Posts: 3,156 | I'm not the expert on the fours; others here would be of more help... The early engine is 1.8 liter, and the later one is 1.9 liter. HP and Tq numbers are the same for both engines. The early engine is arguably easier to 'tune' as most were without the EWS system. Metal housing, filter is plastic with exposed filter. So yeah. M42.
