ASAP AC Schnitzer Type 3's, 8.5X18, with 43mm offset. My car is lowered with sport spings by 30mm. I'm guessing my fenders may need to be rolled but could there be any other problems? Thanks. | | | 01-22-2008, 01:51 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Posts: 379 | Forgot to mention the tires... 235/40ZR18. | | | 01-22-2008, 02:28 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | Should fit, you might need to run a 3 or 5mm spacer. | | | 01-22-2008, 02:42 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | i think they will clear. my wheels with 40 series tires and 40mm offset seem like they would clear just fine and would tuck in the fender petty well __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 01-22-2008, 05:08 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Posts: 379 | Ok thanks. If I were to not install my sport springs, would the chances be better that they fit? | | | 01-22-2008, 05:14 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | well yes because your car would not be as low. but i think you could clear them with the springs and the tires would tuck. at worst you would have to purchase some spacers __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 01-22-2008, 06:12 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Posts: 379 | So what is the main purpose of buying spacers? I know that it is a plate that is in between the rim and the attachment point but if I get a large wheel why would I want to put a spacer in? Wouldn't that just make the rim stick out farther and make it more likely to contact my fender? | | | 01-22-2008, 06:17 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2007 Location: Eugene Oregon Posts: 6,182 | a spacer would make sure you dont rub when turning because fo the wide wheel. but i do think you can get by without the spacer. and yes the spacer would bring out the wheel closer to the fender. so hopefully it will not be needed. __________________ -Josh Sold-1995 318ti, Club Sport, Hellrot Sold-1996 318ti, Active Model, Boston Green Current- 1995 318ti, sport model, schwartz | | | 02-14-2008, 04:38 PM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2008 Location: London England Posts: 16 | Anyone know if 245/40r/17's would fit for the rear tires? I had basically the same offset and tire size an the fit fine without spacers before I got my coil-overs. The only reason I had to get spacers is that due to the different design of the coil-overs the inside of the wheel would have been hitting the coil-spring/spring perch. | | | 02-15-2008, 12:09 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Great White North! Posts: 701 | With a 235 width tire mounted on a 8.5" wheel they will difinitely rub. I recommend you stick with a 225/40/18 tire. Spacers would make rubbing issues worse for both front and rear unless you have camber adjustable plates; enabling you to dial in more negative camber. With a 225 tire and a 43mm ET you might just have to roll the rear arches with the lowering springs. I wouldn't consider buying the wheels if they would be installed without the car being lowered. They will actually make it look jacked up.
