Default quick spark plug wire question

I received my 8mm spark plug wires today and was excited to put them in. i removed the old wires and then realized theres number on them

so im just making sure it goes from the driver to the front of car like 4-3-2-1 ?

my #1 wire is the longest so i think this is right.

you may not be able to fit all of the 8mm wires into the factory looms.. but yes, the longest one should be your cylinder 1.

in order of smallest to longest is 3-2-4-1 i installed it like that into the engine and matched numbers on ignition box.

3 of the 4 wires fit in the loom and the 4th i made a hole in the back for just that one.

im gunna start my car i am pretty sure if i matched the wires with the length i should be fine?

ok. its what i thought. it goes 1-2-3-4, with 1 being most toward the front.

yes. i think they go in the same order. it should say on top of your ignition coils. the bmw OEM ones have a little snap on cover thing that has the numbers.

You should mark both end of the cables, before you remove them. Take a piece of tape and wrap it around the end closest to the plug, and the end closest to the coils. Then right the number of the plug on the tape.. You should also note exactly where they plug in on both ends. If you have little tape tags it is easy enough to just snap a picture of them, then you know exactly how to put it back together..

On a 318 it is easy because it goes in order.. But if you deal with an older car with a distributor and a funky firing order, it can get confusing...

That's exactly what had me puzzled when I put my 8mm wires in. On older cars, the distributor fires in a circle, and you take the wires to the cylinders in the order the cylinders fire.

With our cars, the wires go 1 to 1 coil to cylinder, and the coil pack fires in the order the cylinders require.
