Leather boot for Automatic???

Has anyone done a leather boot shifter for an automatic mod? If you look at the Japanese Ti forum link there is the crazy looking Blue ti with the auto shifter but had a leather boot. I'd love to do that mod to my car..... however I have never heard anyone doing it. BTW, the dude's shifter almost looked like it was from another Beamer though... maybe a 5 series? dunno.
