What's best way to prevent rust on back of car?

The typical little rust spots are starting on back of car in between tail lights and top of bumper cover on the 2-3 inch wide strip that runs width of car. I believe this is common on these cars? Is there a factory flaw I can rework while doing the body work to make it last longer and be more durable? Any suggestions? Thanks

odd.. I live at the shore where car is exposed to salt air almost 24/7 and I do not have rust there

Huh interesting. Just thought was a common problem with this model like some cars have typical rust on fenders, cab corners or hatch of certain makes and models. I guess I may be wrong. Just really wondering why it is has rust there and what went wrong and why does it retain moisture there in that particular spot??? That is ultimate question. Thanks

Will do sooner or later. Just got new laptop and have camera software on old computer. Mine are round little bubbles starting in 2 little patches. One size of half dollar and other size of a quarter. Wanna cut if off before it spreads. Thanks

there's a product called "rust-arrest", I used it on a rust spot on my quarter panel, it doesn't fix it but it stops it

my ti was driven year round before I got it and it doesn't have any rust there, but it did have rust right below it that was underneath the rear bumper though

May try that but will probablly just have it fixed. I have a friend who is a body guy so will probablly be soon. Gonna store mine. I am second owner. She said it wasn't driven in winter and was always garage kept. I believe her and so does everybody that sees it. Hard to say really?

Have you try aerosol products. They have rust removers and rust protection. just my 2 cents

POR15 is an epoxy-based "paint." It's actually a system that includes a cleaner, surface prep treatment then the coating.

They have starter kits for ~$20.

ditto on the POR15 product line.

I have used it on my 89 Jeep (which just loves rust) and i have seen none reappear, it's been 4 years since. The best part is that you can get "clear" as well. So paint over the rust spots and the rust is arrested but to the outsider it looks a rust bucket.
