Default New N00b

Hi, My name is CHris, and i just traded in my Galant for a 96 BMW 318ti. I had an 85 318i back in 99, and really enjoyed the feel of the rear whell drive and the handling. I got this car as a new project car and a daily driver. It has some great features that the previous owner left on it like 19" TSW wheels with 225/35/zr19's and it has what looks to be an upgraded set of headlights with the halos and LED marker lights. I have added my own tuch to it already with the addition of a Dual head unit with XM and iPod. I also installed my subs from my last car into this one. They are 12" Kenwood Comps that handle 800w each and i have an American Lightning 1200w amp (yeah, i know it's cheap and not the true wattage, but it works). The previous owner also left in som infinity 2-way 5.25" speakers in the front powered by an Audiobahn 200w amp. I am also using a ScangaugeII that reads the ECU and connects directly to the OBDII port and gives you all the numbers for MPH, MPG, GPH, RPM, IAT, Load, Timing, and much more.

I will be having to do a lot to the interior to make it look good again, like replacing the interior door panels, fixing the sunroof, replaceing the rear speakers, installing a factory radio connector harness, and running new wiring to the speakers. I also have to replace the hood and trunk struts and would like to look into raising it up an inch or so to get rid of some of the tire scrubbing on the fenders in slow turns. I am going to also add a front strut brace and if needed, a rear strut bar. I want to replace the air intake to a full CAI and clean up the engine compartment. I also need to find and install some factory or aftermarket oem fit fog lights and get a switch to control them with that looks stock.

I work for a compay here in Norcross, GA that deals in Home automation and home theater and all the cool stuff that the big houses have. My dream is to incorporate that same idea into a car so that all knobs, switches, dials and gauges can be replaced with LCD screens and touchpanels. That is, if i can get the interior into shape without too much of a cost on my part. If anybody has any spare oem parts lying around that fits my list of needs, please feel free to PM me and let me know your price. I do have the leather package and i guess i have the sport package with the A/M button on the console (which i need a new one with a new bezel).

Looking forward to getting to know you guys/gals and hope to meet some of you soon to help me get my car to its full potentail.

Chris

Thanks for the welcome! i have been on forums before, and i know about the search fuction, but you will probably see me post some obvious questions every now and then due to brain f@rts.

I have one right now. Could i get the install guide to the headlights that are on my car. they didn't come with the "name signed in blood". They are the halo conversion that i have seen on ebay.

Also, i have tried on different days to add myself to the registry and i keep getting an error.

Welcome aboard Chris. I found this in the knowledge base, hope it helps. I've never had to change the lights so I have zero experience on this topic.
